In March 2025, the opera “Yuzuru” was performed on Hachijojima as part of a commemorative event marking the 70th anniversary of Hachijo Town’s founding and the 100th anniversary of composer Ikuma Dan’s birth. Ikuma Dan loved Hachijojima and composed music at his villa on the island. Elementary and junior high school students on Hachijojima were also invited to take part, and I performed in an opera for the first time. I practiced singing for three months. It was a valuable experience to help create a stage production together with famous names from the opera world and a university student orchestra.
